The Lipoedema Podcast Episode

Thanks Shelly and Tiana for having me!

Meet Carla Mardell

In my fifth decade, I’ve lived a lot of life as an expat educator, travelling across Asia and the world, exploring research, yoga, and different approaches to health and wellbeing.

So when weight gain and heavy, painful legs began to appear and change how I moved through life, I was confused. Especially because it happened alongside a stressful workplace event, COVID mandates, and the onset of perimenopause.

I returned to EFT tapping, retrained, and at the same time discovered what I was experiencing in my body had a name: lipoedema. What an amazing syncrodestiny moment!

Looking back, the genetic signs of the recent blossoming of lipoedema had been there all along. What followed with my diagnosis was a deeper shift in how I listened to my body. I began to understand it wasn’t just something to manage, but rather my body giving clear guidance on how to eat, move, and care for myself in messages of pain and body composition. Self-care and mindset work stopped being optional.

EFT helped me shift the beliefs and internal stories I had been carrying for years.

This page shares the resources mentioned in The Lipoedema Podcast episode, created from 19 years as a certified master EFT practitioner. I hope they bring you ease, clarity, and support.

I Wish Every Woman With Lipoedema Had These Recourses...

Living with lipoedema isn’t just about the condition itself. It’s the way it quietly shapes how you see yourself, and how that then influences the choices you make every day. It shows up in small moments, like getting dressed, catching your reflection, or deciding whether you feel comfortable enough to go somewhere or be seen.

In The Lipoedema Podcast, I talk about how I use EFT tapping to work with those moments. Not to fix lipoedema, but to shift the internal response that follows it. Because while the condition may remain, the way you relate to yourself within it can change, and that changes far more than people expect.

There is research showing that lipoedema has a significant impact on mental wellbeing, and I do touch on how what we think and feel can influence the body’s physical responses.

What this podcast offers, though, is something practical. A tool and a process you can use when thoughts start to spiral or when self-criticism begins to take over, so you can interrupt the pattern rather than stay in it.

As those patterns begin to shift, so do the way you respond and the choices you make. You start to make clearer decisions, set boundaries that actually support you, and prioritise your health with less frustration, self-criticism, and resistance. It becomes easier to follow through, to show up, and to engage with life with more vibrancy and ease as your sense of self-worth strengthens.

I’ve brought everything together here so it’s easy to access without overwhelm. There are resources you can explore at your own pace, depending on what feels relevant for you.

The Self-Love Kit

Self-love can feel uncomfortable. For many women, it can sound like being vain, selfish, or full of yourself, especially when you’ve spent so much of your life focusing on everyone else or trying to fix what feels wrong in your body.

But the way you see your body doesn’t stay contained there. It shapes how you speak to yourself, what you tolerate, how visible you allow yourself to be, and how much of life you actually let yourself enjoy. It shows up in the comparisons, the hesitation, the second-guessing, and the quiet ways you hold yourself back.

For the ladies with lipoedema, I know how deeply this can run. That’s why I’ve made this bundle of customisable EFT tapping scripts and hypno-meditations, so you can start working with the patterns of judgement, worthiness, and comparison in a practical way.

These are here to be reused, adapted, and returned to, supporting you to shift your relationship with your body and, in turn, how you experience everything else.

Join an Online Tapping Circle

I know what it’s like to live with lipoedema. The frustration of trying to change the shape of your legs your whole life, the heaviness in your body, and the constant awareness that stress, food, or movement can shift how you feel. And underneath it all, the quiet grief of not choosing any of it.

I’ve created a guided EFT tapping circle for women with lipoedema. A space where you don’t have to figure it out alone or keep saying you’ll do the work later on your own.

We come together to release tension, calm the nervous system, and reconnect with the body in a way that feels supportive rather than forced. In 30 minutes, there’s space to reset, soften, and let go of the low level hum of tension that we don't even know we hold.

Circles run Monthly.

Spaces are limited.
